There's a graveyard
near the White House, where the Unknown Soldier lies. The flowers there
are sprinkled, with the tears from a Mothers eyes.
I stood there not
so long ago, with roses for the brave, and suddenly I heard a
voice speak out from far beyond the grave. "I'm the Unknown
Soldier," the spirit voice began, "And I think I have the right, to ask
some questions man to man.
Are my buddies taken care of? Was their
victory so sweet? Is that big reward you offered, selling pencils on the
street?
"Did they
really win the freedom they battled so hard to achieve? Do you still
respect that Croix de Guerre above that empty sleeve? Does that gold star
in the window now mean anything at all?
I wonder how my wife now
feels, when she hears a bugle call? And my baby who says "Hello
Central, give me no man" can they replace her Daddy, with a military
band?
"I wonder if the
profiteers have satisfied their greed? I wonder if a Soldiers Mother,
ever is in need? I wonder if the kings who planned it all, are really
satisified? They played their game of checkers, and eleven million
died.
I'm the Unknown Soldier, and maybe I died in vain. But if I
were alive and my Country called, I'd do it all over again."
This poem is dedicated in
memory of my husband, William E. Walker who now rests safely in the arms of
Jesus. I dedicate it also to my brother-in-law James Walker. To all who
gave their lives for their Country when it called in time of need. To those
who have not yet come home, and to those that served and still live with
the haunting of what their eyes have seen, and what their bodies had to
endure for what their Country asked of them, and what they freely give.
I dedicate it also to my Mother and Father-in-law Helen and SW Walker,
that had not one son, but two in service to their country, and they both did
so with pride. ~God Bless, Deborah Walker Kellie~

My late husband lived, ate, and breathed the Armed Forces.
He held his head proud for what he believed in, which was God,
Country, and the freedom of our great country. He worked hard for the
VFW and held great honor for any that served their country. From him, I
learned so very much and it is not forgotten, just as he is not, nor shall he
ever be. His voice may be silent, but I can speak for him, and work as much
as I can for our Veterans in his stead. I do so out of love for him, and the
respect he and so many others deserve and I shall continue to do so until I
am no longer able to. I ask you to please support our Soldiers now serving,
our disabled Veterans, and our VFW. I thank those who have contributed to
this page I have made.
God Bless,
Deborah Walker Kellie
Please support your Veterans, for they didn't like war
either... Thank You, Deborah Walker Kellie

Please pray for our
Soldiers as they once again fight for our freedom, remember that freedom has
never been free.
Billy Rose, a gifted author, is now deceased as of 1966. His work is
heartwarming and such a honor to use, and an honor to our Veterans of our
Country. Shawnee Kellie,(aka Deborah Walker Kellie).
A very special web site that is responsible for this Unknown creation.
