: an investment swindle in which some early investors are paid off with money put up by later ones in order to encourage more and bigger risks.
(Please tell me: How can the children not know about the corruption by adults if we document them in our history books, the media, and our dictionaries?)
Notes: A Ponzi scheme is different from a Pyramid scheme and a chain letter scheme. Only one person or organization can be held criminally culpable for a Ponzi scheme. All the other participants are innocent. However, all participants of a Pyramid scheme and a chain letter scheme are guilty and can be prosecuted. Also, as the SEC pyramid below shows, a pyramid quickly runs out of people. End of Notes:
