After publishing one satirical and ironic piece of e-mail about the division among parties, I have received emotional responses from thinkers and non-thinkers alike. In response to all, I will publish my thoughts only so that I will have created political material that I am responsible for regarding every aspect. As I have stated in my "Dream Ticket for 2008" creation, I believe the government should work closer together in a non-partisan manner. I grew up in a home that believed in an active role in politics.
When I was about 11, my grandfather, E.L. Gadbois, who had been a high school teacher for 25 years at North High in Minneapolis and had a close friend in the Minnesota senate (Don Wright), told me that "Politician is synonymous with crook." As I got older, my father, S.E. Linsley, introduced me to several city and state officals and took me to political gatherings to see if I was interested in going into politics. Later, my high school teachers asked me to represent Murray High School at Boys' State during the summer. It was sponsored by the American Legion. I did not fail my school. I was elected Mayor of Winona that week. And I ran for State Auditor and won by the greatest margin in the history of Boys' State according to Chic Zwiener, the head of our American Legion. I was asked, "Why did you not run for Boys' State governor?" I replied that I had already lived twice in Washington, D.C. and wanted to stay home that summer.
I grew up with parents who voted straight party lines. My Mother was a Democrat. My Father was a Republican. They used to kid each other about cancelling each other's vote for President. Maybe I decided to vote non-partisan because of their opposing viewpoints. Regardless, I am proud of my voting record and my intuition has not failed me. Last year a significant event took place within the AARP.

In January of 2007, the AARP adopted the "elephonkey" as their logo. I have been a member since January of 1990 and saved thousands of dollars in car insurance. In addition, I have adopted their logo here. AARP also carries health insurance for its members. Enough advertising.

One Unity Symbol AARP Elephonkey
The AARP symbol has blended the red and blue into purple. Of course, the stars and the red and blue colors could be used. Either way, the result should be the unity of all Americans.
Personally, I have a distaste for politics and politicians alike. I prefer "straight-shooters." I recognize everyone has the capability of either role, "politician and/or straight-shooter." I prefer people who believe that there are only 4 answers to every question, "Yes, No, I don't know, and I don't know but I'll find out." All else is fabrication. I firmly believe the old cliche that "A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged." And, Groucho Marx was also a straight-shooter when he said, "I would never join a club who would have me as a member."
As I have said in "Dream Ticket for 2008," you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. And I will probably rub everyone the wrong way. However, if you feel personally attacked by my Voltairean Satire, or ironic humor (peculiar, haha, or otherwise), I apologize in advance for unintended slings and arrows of my own doing, but not the publications of others on my open forum.
