"If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake"

Chocolate and Cake for One and All

This HTML creation is for a lady whose friendship as a great Muse has always inspired me to create.   I will always be thankful that she understood that her husband's role as a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard is as important as a defender of the U.S. as the rest of the military services.

After you finish eating the chocolate,
you can eat the box.

Another form of art........ These are cakes!!!

Hard to believe they are cakes.
Yes, everything you see is a cake with the frosting.
The sewing machine and other items look so real it looks like they are the real thing - but they are all just cake and frosting.

If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake
1950
Performed by: Eileen Barton
Written by: Al Hoffman, Bob Merrill, and Clem Watts

[Sound of knocking on door]

[Spoken:]
Come in
Well, well, well, look who's here
I haven't seen you in many a year

If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
baked a cake, baked a cake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howd-ya do, howd-ya do, howd-ya do

Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band
Grandest band in the land
Had you dropped me a letter, I'd a-hired a band
And spread the welcome mat for you

Oh, I don't know where you came from
'cause I don't know where you've been
But it really doesn't matter
Grab a chair and fill your platter
And dig, dig, dig right in

If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Hired a band, goodness sake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howd-ya do, howd-ya do, howd-ya do

[Instrumental Interlude]

If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
baked a cake, baked a cake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howd-ya do, howd-ya do, howd-ya do

Had you dropped me a letter
I'd a-hired a band
Grandest band in the land
Had you dropped me a letter
I'd a-hired a band
Spread the welcome mat for you

Oh, I don't know where you came from
'Cause I don't know where you've been
But it really doesn't matter
Grab a chair and fill your platter
And dig, dig, dig right in

If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Hired a band, goodness sake
If I knew you were comin' I'd've baked a cake
Howd-ya do, howd-ya do, howd-ya do

Howd-ya do, howd-ya do, howd-ya do
Howd-ya do-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
