My Dad used to say, "Our Technology has advanced in light years compared to our Social Science which is only one step further than the Greek civilization." Or, as Dad used as an alternative, "It has taken civilization 50,000 years to advance to our current position which is only 1 step backwards from barbarianism."
The lady that sent me this is the wife of a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. I feel I have known her all my life. I know she can relate to the following. Early in my career I learned the following. "Technology devices double in power every year and/or come down in price by half every year." In other words, wait a year or two and you will get a newer, better, and cheaper model.
